15K Hot Chocolate Rock Stars Run Through The Chicago Loop

We May Not Look Like Rock Stars, But We Felt Like Ones

15K Hot Chocolate Rock Stars Run Through The Chicago Loop

Running through the streets of Chicago will make you feel like a Rock Star. The picture is of me with four of my closest chums after we ran the Hot Chocolate 15K in Chicago on Saturday, November 5th.

The race started and ended at Grant Park and took us through the Chicago loop; N. LaSalle Street, W. Monroe Street, W. Jackson Blvd, and S. Michigan Avenue.  The most amazing and supportive people were on the sidewalks cheering on the runners throughout the race.  Some folks played music for us and at one point there was a cheerleading team doing cheers.  Many people, some with a sense of humor, held signs.  One said “Please hurry.  My arms are getting tired.”

The weather was fabulous.  My group went expecting much colder temperatures.  As you can see in the picture, we’re dressed for wind, but it was around 50 degrees on race day so before I was too far into the run I had peeled off gloves and my top layer.

Hot Chocolate Event Jacket

The race ended at Grant Park with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and an assortment of wrapped chocolates all from Ghiradelli.  Delicious!  Each participant also received an event windbreaker jacket.

The Chicago Hot Chocolate, America’s Sweetest Race, is an annual 5K/15K that raises money for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. There are other Hot Chocolate events across the U.S. including Washington D.C., Dallas, San Diego, San Francisco and Phoenix.

If you’re interested in participating, keep an eye on the web site for dates and locations of next year’s Hot Chocolate events.
