Black Bean Soup Is Comfort Food
Whenever anyone talks about ‘comfort’ foods I don’t think of mashed potatoes or creamed corn. For me, the term ‘comfort food’ always brings soup to mind. Soup, along with a loaf of pumpkin or banana bread. Now that fall is here I’ll be including soup more in my meal planning.
One of my favorite foods is black beans, so obviously, one of my favorite soups would be black bean soup. The recipe I usually make is the one I found at Fit Sugar. I’ve seen black bean soup recipes that call for a half a pound of bacon, but to me, adding that much fat and sodium defeats the purpose. This recipe keeps the soup low in calories and ultra nutritious.
Whole-Wheat Banana Bread
Over the last year, I’ve made a commitment to reduce the amount of processed foods we eat which includes white flour. To make whole-wheat banana bread you can simply use your favorite recipe and replace the white flour with wheat. If you’re not ready to go 100% whole wheat, trying doing half white, half whole wheat.
If you’re looking for a good whole-wheat banana bread, here’s a good one to try at All Recipes.
