What Has Happened To Exercise TV?

R.I.P. Exercise TV.  I’ll Miss You

This morning I opened – or tried to open – the Exercise TV app on my iPad.  Much in need of a little inspiration for my morning fitness class, I thought I would look through some of the week’s daily workouts but none of them would load.  Maybe the app is experiencing technical difficulties?

No. Unfortunately when I went to ExerciseTV.com, the landing page displays a message that says, “as of 12/31/11 the Exercise TV On Demand channel and accompanying website will no longer be operating.”  It has actually gone out of operation prior to December 31.  It goes on to say the Exercise TV workouts will be available on iTunes and through Amazon.

It’s a sad day for me and I’m sure for many others that thoroughly enjoyed the daily workouts that you could watch for free.  The best deal was the Premium Pass that you could purchase and watch tons of workout videos for a minimal monthly fee.

Prior to Exercise TV, I used to watch Fit TV.  I’m not sure, but I’m assuming Fit TV eventually morphed in Exercise TV since many of the instructors were the same.

Thank you Exercise TV for all of the mornings you provided me with a new idea to present to my class, a unique core exercise or a new medicine ball workout by my favorite Exercise TV star, Steven Maresca of Body by Jake.

I’ll be on the lookout for another resource for at-home workouts for us and will post as soon as I find one.

I can’t believe this is happening! I’m so depressed. I have many Jillian Michaels workouts that I own, but i love the variability of all the workouts on ExerciseTV!

I agree, Steve Maresca was my favorite too. So, so sad.

  2. I am truly upset by this development! I love ExerciseTV. I wonder what happened…!?

  4. What happened to the video’s that I paid for? I can’t access them now? I want my $4.99 back. I know it’s been a several months since I used it, but I owned it so I didn’t think that mattered.

  5. Hi I live in the UK and we have Exercise TV on our Samsung Smart TV as a TVapp called FitnessVOD which I use on a dailt basis as they have many useful and varied routines.

They advertise the Exercise TV website and I tried to access it to see if their was an exercise application I could download to my Nexus 7 Tablet . The website does not exist, as you mention in your blog, which shows the ephemeral nature of the computer industry; just when you get used to something it disappears or is changed beyond recognition.

Anyway my question is, can you recommend any fitness routines that I can access on my tablet?

    Regards

    Chris Norman

    • Hi Chris – I can access any of the workouts on youtube on my iPad. I don’t know if the same is true for the Nexus 7 Tablet. There are a lot of full free workouts on the web. One of the best resources is Lionsgate’s Be Fit Channel on You Tube. You might check it out. Thanks for your comment!

  6. Thank you for your reply. I will try You Tube, because for me variation is the key to motivation.

    Happy New Year

    Chris

    • You’re welcome. I have written several posts about options for workouts – and many of them are free or for a nominal fee – either on youtube or their own sites. Be Fit, Workouts On Demand, Body Rock, Stream Fit. There really are quite a few. I get bored easily so I need a lot of variety too. That’s why I’m always on the search for a good workout that entertains me!
